Very good food and a great value. Eggplant appetizer was flavorful and delicious. Bogo 8oz filets for $30. I would definitely eat here again!

Absolutely awful! Tea came out looking like coke- hey do not brew it in house. (Should've been our first clue.). Bruschetta appetizer was $9.00 and was a tomato salsa mixture on toast drizzled with vinegrette and feta cheese. Strange! "Chicago style" deep dish pizza tastes like a frozen pizza we'd bought from the store. By the time we left we were laughing because it just kept getting worse. We spent over $30 for two for one of the worst restaurant experiences we've ever had.

The buffet wasn't set up, the pasta was so drenched in butter that if you didn't have high cholesterol before you will now. The wait staff was very polite but the food was horrible.

What a strange, thick, unappetizing tomato sauce! It's disappointing. With only so many restaurant choices around, we were hoping to enjoy our dinners.

This place has the cutest outfits for staff and a pretty cool theme...BUT the food is awful and they don't take American Express us business people use American Express and that is not ok

This place was horrible. Service was terrible; ordered drinks and appetizer at same time, appetizer arrived after long wait and still no drinks. We tried an appetizer(Bruschetta) it was horrible and sent it back. Then ordered a chicken caesar salad, never showed up at the table for 20 minutes so left our drink money and walked out. Hopefully things will get better before tourist season.

Was looking forward to our first dinner out while in Detroit Lakes. A local recommended the Speak Easy. However, the food was mediocre. The rigatoni was bland, the steak was fatty and overpriced. We spent about $100 (plus tip) on three adult meals, three kids meals and three non-alcoholic drinks. A very disappointing experience. Would not recommend to anyone. Giving it two stars because it could have been worse.

I have eaten at this restaurant many, many times over the past years. I've noticed lately the quality has been going downhill. We ordered a to-go order recently and the gal I spoke to on the phone had no clue about the menu or what things were. I had to explain the dishes to her! This has happened before with another staff member as well. When we got our food, the containers they used had the wrong sized lids (the lids were too small so the sauce and dip oozed out!!). The mashed potatoes were under-cooked and super lumpy. I ordered the chicken cordon bleu which used to have a wonderful white cheese sauce on top. Now, the sauce was almost like the cheese used in boxed macaroni and cheese. The only thing good was the side salad and garlic toast. If cutting corners to save money for the owner/restaurant is what is happening, it sure is a shame. This place used to be awesome.

Went for supper on a week night. Not many people there. Server was efficient, but not friendly. She knew the menu somewhat. I ordered the Cajun Creole Gnocchi. Appearance was okay, but it was supposed to have andouille and shrimp. Shrimp turned out to be those tiny salad shrimp (the size of raisins) that you get in the frozen food section. They tasted awful. The sausage was just a johnsonville link sausage - nothing like andouille. It was very greasy. The "rose sauce" was nothing but an alfredo sauce with a little seasoning added. Nothing tasted fresh or made from scratch. No doubt that the ingredients were either frozen or came from a can. Very disappointing. I would expect this from a $10 meal, but not when they are charging $17. They are trying to be a fancy restaurant, but they are clearly not accomplishing their goal. The place is looking run down.

Very courteous and friendly staff. Restaurant was packed - when we went in on a Friday evening. The baked fish was a complete mess and tasted awful. The manager made sure we got dessert on the house and ensured that our service was excellent. Apart from this the food was good and service was quick - even though the restaurant was packed. I would recommend this place!

Nope. Overpriced. Salad was wilted. Salmon was good. One side of garlic mashed potatoes that were bland with no seasoning but lots of garlic. Not too impressed. Overpriced for the quality.

Have been on a biycle ride since Minot, ND. This is the best meal I've had in 5 days. Chicken soup was full of stock and delicious. Spaghetti and metaballs is very tasty, with ample sauce. The salad was very crisu, and the italian dressing delicious. Noting not to like.

This chef, Michael Mercil, also runs the kitchen at the Detroit Country Club dining room, where I had my wedding rehearsal dinner. At the Speak Easy, the vegetarian lasagna and the chicken with Boursin cheese sauce are my favorite dishes. I also like the pasta dishes with white sauce--penne with blackened chicken and a touch of tomato sauce mixed in, as well as fettucini alfredo. They have good food at reasonable prices, but the ambiance is nothing special. I will go back when I'm back in town.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
